Complete observability with Amazon Web Services (AWS) integration

Integrate Helios with your AWS account to complement observability based on instrumented services and applicative flows with infrastructure metrics and logs.

Helios integrates to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and provides the following:

  • Show logs and metrics from CloudWatch for traces.
  • Get performance metrics and alerts for your AWS resources, including Lambda functions.

Setup

The integration is simple and based on a CloudFormation template which is provided by Helios and deployed on your AWS account.

  1. First of all, make sure you are logged in to the AWS account you would like to integrate with.

  2. In Helios, open the Integration tab inside the Settings.

  3. On the AWS icon, click on 'Add integration'.

  4. Click on 'Helios integration stack' and a new tab will open inside your AWS console with a 'Quick create stack' wizard.

  5. Check 'I acknowledge that AWS CloudFormation might create IAM resources with custom names', and then click on 'Create stack'.

  6. Let the CloudFormation create itself, and refresh until the status turns into CREATE_COMPLETE.

  7. Click on the 'Resources' tab of the 'HeliosIntegrationStack', and copy the ARN of the newly created 'HeliosRole'.

  8. Go back to Helios, paste the 'HeliosRole' ARN into the form and click Save.
Note that Helios supports integration for multiple AWS accounts - you can always repeat the process mentioned above and integrate more accounts.

  9. Integration is done! You will now be able to see metrics and logs from your AWS resources in Helios.
