๐ต๏ธโโ๏ธ Span consumption breakdown
Inspect how data is sent from your services and different environments in order to monitor and adjust it optimally according to your plan and needs.
The various plans Helios offers mainly differ based on the number of spans sent from all services (and tests) instrumented by Helios. In order to optimize how data is used within a specific plan, we've made the complete span consumption breakdown available in the product. The analysis is available in two different format: An overview table, and a CSV report that can be exported with the raw data.
Accessing the span consumption analysis
The span consumption breakdown is available under Settings > Plans. For each period it's possible to retrieve the span consumption breakdown either in an overview table, or by exporting a CSV report with the raw data of span consumption in each service and environment.

Span consumption breakdown table
You can easily access the span consumption breakdown table and understand what service running in what environment is generating spans. Using this information you can optimize the span use under the specific Helios plan to ensure you're getting the data that is most important to you when integrating Helios into your development process.

Span consumption raw CSV
Alternatively, you may wish to export the consumption analysis - and that is easily supported through the 'Export CSV' option. The report contains a list of all services running in specific environments, including instrumented tests, and the associated span consumption in that period.

Adjusting data sent to Helios
Data sent to Helios from instrumented services can be controlled either by applying sampling ratio's to specific services, or by filtering specific types or formats of data that are generally not interesting and clutter the data when investigating issues.
